Born in Burgundy, Frédéric is the 5th generation of wine-growers of the Magnien family in Morey-Saint-Denis. He learned about the vines from his father Michel Magnien before going to California to broaden his knowledge, working for Josh Jensen on the Calera estate. He continued his training in Australia at Bannock Burn Vineyards then returned to France where he obtained a diploma in oenology at the university of Dijon. In 1995, he made one of the most important decisions of his life by creating a Wine Merchants under his name: FREDERIC MAGNIEN.
